STEPS Bridging Course

The GUC supports CQUniversity’s STEPS bridging program as an alternative entrance pathway to programs supported at GUC as well as some Perth universities.

Is STEPS suitable for me?

STEPS is suitable for you if you want to undertake tertiary study and may:

  • need to meet entry requirements for your desired degree.
  • be returning to study after some time away.
  • want some additional support to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to successfully enter and undertake further study.

STEPS is free for Australian/New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or a holder of a humanitarian visa. GUC offers STEPS in both first and second semester.

Delivery mode: Mixed mode delivery with online resources and two hours of face-to-face tutorials per unit studied.
You must complete at least three (and often four) units in STEPS to qualify for entry into university. Some courses require additional units to meet course prerequisites. GUC supports:

  • Preparation Skills for University
  • Essay Writing for University
  • Fundamental Mathematics and Intermediate Mathematics for University
  • Introductory Biology

To be eligible for STEPS, you must:

  • be 18 years of age or older in the year of enrolment*
  • be an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or a holder of a humanitarian visa; and
  • reside in Australia.

*You can apply at 17 years of age, but you must turn 18 years of age within an academic year of enrolment.
