Vision

It is the vision of the University Access Group that the Geraldton Universities Centre will be a central point for the delivery of the university courses into Geraldton. The Centre will work with universities to deliver more programs to meet local needs and to support  those students already studying.

This centre will grow to cater for approximately 300 - 400 students. Funding for $2.5M for a purpose built facility was confirmed for 2004 and 2005.

Role

The role of the University access group has altered a number of times as the project has progressed. Important roles initially identified by the group include:

  1. Providing Geraldton input into the GUC Board including
    • Participating in the management of the GUC
    • A Geraldton perspective to courses, places and modes of delivery
    • Lobbying for new courses, places, etc
    • Disseminating information to the community and region
  2. Supporting and developing student services including
    • Social groups
    • Student guild
    • Student accommodation
  3. Career development including
    • Careers markets
    • Short courses
    • Post-graduate courses
    • Other courses from universities
  4. External relations with stakeholders including
    • Other organisations
    • Other universities
    • Partnerships
